what / so what / now what

Ellen’s sweet heuristic for reflection:

what did you hear today? (what resonated with you, what made you think, made you question?)

so what? (why does it matter?)

now what? (what are you going to do with it?)

Today I heard Breanne talking about the layers of meaning that this college campus space holds for her. It makes me think about the ways in which places stay the same (even if they change facade, they’re the same in our memories) and how our “newness” is a disruption because we become newly cognizant of the layers – who we were then / who we are now. Now what – I’d like to be more attuned to how people are thinking about and making their identity in a place – how do we connect to places, and what is it that draws us back to them?
